Our Story

The Hinckley & District Air Rifle League has been organising air rifle target shooting in the Hinckley area for over 50 years, originating from a meeting between interested parties back in February 1963. From here local shooters have enjoyed decades of shooting and continue to do so on Thursday nights weekly through the season - September - May.

The league shoots using standard .177 air rifles over 18ft at standard semi-automatic bell targets. Bell targets go along way back further than the league and their history can be traced back to, well why not read on

Matches are held at local pubs and clubs around the area within a radius of approximately six miles from the town centre so travelling to matches should not cause too many problems.
The matches themselves start at 8pm finishing around 10:30pm to 11pm at the latest.
Individuals shoot six scoring shots to count 30 maximum towards the team total. Teams have a maximum of 11 players, the top seven scores counting towards the teams overall score with a maximum 210 top score being achievable.

Anyone old enough to hold and aim the rifles safely can shoot - children must however be accompanied by a parent to enable them to compete. We have a series of under 21, 18 and 16 categories to encourage the youngsters.
In addition to our standard bell target format we also enjoy paper target shoots for various events during the year some of which are held for charity.
